By focusing heavily on early detection, proactive screening, and the removal of socioeconomic barriers to specialized medical care, the initiative sets out to establish an unbroken, lifelong continuum of health management for women of all generations.
The high-profile launch event convened a diverse coalition of distinguished medical professionals, public health officials, corporate leaders, and prominent cultural figures. Among the key attendees were Dr. Huynh Minh Chinh, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Medical Association; Dr. Nguyen Van Be Hai, Deputy Director of the Vinh Long Department of Health; and Dr. Huynh Thanh Huynh, Deputy Director of the Lam Dong Department of Health and Chairman of the Lam Dong Medical Association.
Academic excellence and specialized expertise were prominently represented by Prof. Dr. Truong Dinh Kiet, Honorary Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Medical Genetics Association; Dr. Tran Dang Ngoc Linh, Head of the Radiation Oncology Department at the Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital and lecturer at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City; and Dr. Pham Thi Hai Chau, Head of Examination Department A at Hung Vuong Hospital.

The initiative also secured robust cross-sector backing from corporate and philanthropic leaders. Notable participants included Ms. Ly Thuy Ngoc Hien, Head of the "Sun of Hope" project at the HOPE Foundation; Dr. Giang Hoa, Founder and Scientific Director of Gene Solutions; Ms. Vu Thi Kieu Chinh, Director of Business & Marketing at Gene Solutions; Ms. Nguyen Bach Quyet, Deputy General Director of FPT Retail and Director of the Long Chau Pharmacy and Vaccination System; and Mr. Ngo Quoc Bao, Senior Director of the Long Chau system. Furthermore, the cause gained widespread cultural resonance through the support of esteemed artists and public figures, including People’s Artist Bach Tuyet, singer-actress Hari Won, rapper Suboi, and martial artist Chau Tuyet Van.
The Growing Burden of Women’s Cancers in Vietnam
During the inaugural symposium, Dr. Tran Dang Ngoc Linh delivered a comprehensive overview of the current epidemiological landscape surrounding women’s health and oncological diseases in Vietnam. According to statistics from GLOBOCAN, cancer remains a formidable global and domestic public health threat, with approximately 97,656 new cancer cases diagnosed annually in Vietnam alone.
Most alarming is the disproportionate impact of gynecological and breast malignancies. Breast cancer and cervical cancer collectively account for roughly 37 percent of all newly diagnosed cancer cases and nearly 30 percent of all cancer-related deaths among Vietnamese women. Furthermore, epidemiological data reveals that women aged 30 to 60 represent 60 percent of these diagnoses.
The ramifications of this rising trend extend far beyond clinical morbidity and mortality. The burden of cancer encompasses severe physical suffering, profound psychological trauma, and immense financial strain—not only for the patients themselves, but also for their families and society at large. Direct medical expenses, combined with indirect costs such as lost productivity and out-of-pocket expenditures, place a heavy toll on households. Consequently, proactive prevention and early screening are vital instruments in altering this trajectory, offering patients the opportunity for timely interventions and significantly improved survival rates.

Dr. Linh noted that malignancies such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, and colorectal cancer feature prolonged pre-invasive or early-stage development phases. With modern advancements in medical science, these conditions can be effectively screened and detected at their inception. Experts strongly urge the public to embrace routine health examinations and remain vigilant regarding early warning signs, seeking prompt medical evaluation when abnormalities arise.
A Six-Step Lifelong Healthcare Framework
At the core of the newly launched project is a structured, six-step lifelong healthcare framework designed to bridge the gaps in the existing medical continuum. The roadmap encompasses:
- Risk recognition
- Proactive prevention
- Appropriate preliminary screening
- Comprehensive early detection
- Accurate diagnostic evaluation
- Streamlined access to treatment and continuous, long-term follow-up care
Through this structured approach, Long Chau and its strategic collaborators intend to produce accurate, accessible, and responsible medical educational content to elevate public health literacy. The initiative will deploy extensive public education campaigns to inform communities about critical risk factors, subtle bodily warning signs, and the indispensable role of regular clinical screenings.
By connecting specialized medical expertise with community resources, the program facilitates organized screening drives while mobilizing philanthropic resources to assist vulnerable women throughout their diagnostic and therapeutic journeys.

Synergy Across Sectors: The Power of Public-Private Partnerships
The success of the "For Vietnamese Women – No More Fear of Cancer" initiative relies heavily on a robust multi-sectoral alliance. Long Chau leverages its expansive nationwide footprint—comprising nearly 3,000 pharmacies, over 240 vaccination centers, a workforce of more than 22,000 healthcare professionals, and advanced digital technology platforms—to bring health management services directly to local communities.
Gene Solutions contributes its scientific expertise, high-quality testing capabilities, and precision medicine solutions. The company has played a pivotal role in developing specialized molecular testing ecosystems for gynecological cancers. Utilizing advanced DNA methylation analysis, Gene Solutions provides molecular biomarkers that support the early detection and risk stratification of cervical cancer and endometrial cancer through minimally invasive cervical liquid-based cytology samples. These diagnostic innovations empower clinicians to accurately assess risk, personalize surveillance strategies, and optimize patient management.
Meanwhile, the HOPE Foundation acts as a vital bridge for social resources, fostering a spirit of sharing and community support. Concurrently, medical regulatory authorities and major hospitals provide essential clinical governance and professional oversight, ensuring that all health-related information and outreach activities maintain the highest standards of scientific accuracy.
Direct Action: Distribution of 3,000 Free Screening Packages
A tangible highlight of the launch event was the announcement and initial distribution of 3,000 free medical examination and cancer screening packages. Long Chau officially handed over these vouchers to the Departments of Health in Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong Province, and Vinh Long Province. This action demonstrates a concrete commitment to creating sustainable value for society, directly expanding access to advanced diagnostic services and high-quality medical testing for women in local communities, particularly those facing financial hardships.

Addressing the assembly, Dr. Huynh Minh Chinh underscored the strategic importance of the collaboration: "With the close partnership of government agencies, professional organizations, trade associations, and the private sector, the ‘For Vietnamese Women – No More Fear of Cancer’ program will effectively disseminate accurate awareness regarding cancer prevention. It will encourage women to take charge of their health and create opportunities for broader populations to access preventative, screening, and appropriate medical care services."
Dr. Chinh further outlined three core directives to ensure the program achieves maximum practical impact:
- First, elevating public awareness and driving actionable habits for proactive healthcare among women.
- Second, guaranteeing seamless continuity throughout the entire healthcare continuum—from health education and primary prevention to screening, definitive diagnosis, and specialized treatment.
- Third, maximizing the collaborative strength between the public health sector, professional medical societies, and private enterprises to foster long-term community benefit.
As the initiative unfolds across various provinces and municipalities, organizers anticipate that the combination of advanced genetic diagnostics, widespread pharmacy networks, and community-driven philanthropic support will fundamentally transform the standard of preventative women’s health in Vietnam, steering the nation toward a future where the fear of cancer is systematically dismantled through early detection and care.
